COSTUME SUMMARY
I originally created this cosplay for a live-action Sailor Moon performance at a convention. I added a few of my own style choices to Nehelenia's design to make he costume "pop" while on stage. I started by making the bodice which features a pointed deep sweetheart neckline with appliqued glitter lace on the neckline. The sleeves are detachable with a large puff sleeve at the top and a straight sleeve below with additional glitter applique. While in this costume I wear extreme 8" platform shoes, so I made the skirt extra long to account for my height. It is a full circle, and the overlaid yellow organza has a dramatic train in the back with rhinestone chain on the rolled hem. The front of the skirt has a large glitter applique hand-sewn in place.
This is the most dramatic wig I've ever made too! It has detachable ponytails on either side with an expanding foam core and wefts glued and styled around it. The hair was tightly curled with long straws to give it a very small and stylized look. I think curling the wig took longer than to make the dress!
To finish it off, I created a collar and cuffs using gold rhinestone chain, black gems, and remaining black satin from the dress.
This is a really exciting and eye-catching costume, but because of how tall the shoes are, it is not a very mobile costume. I hope I can wear it again soon!
