COSTUME SUMMARY
In May of 2020, I challenged myself to make a Star Wars costume in time for May the 4th - the only problem was, that I only have four days left to do it! I created this entire Padme Amidala cosplay in only four days of work, including time spent ordering materials and documenting the process on my social media accounts. I wanted to use as many materials that I already had on hand for this costume, and the only supplemental fabric that I purchased was the gold satin for the blouse, the material for the cape, and the ribbons for all of the detailing. The costume includes a gathered gold satin blouse with attached ribbon and rosette detailing on the sleeves and straps, a boned metallic corset with embroidered design with rhinestones and rosettes, an embroidered lace cape with appliqued edges, and a gathered satin and lace skirt. Creating this costume was a fun challenge and really put my planning and construction skills to the test. Although I didn’t have much time to complete the project, I was still determined to focus on craftsmanship, and I was able to successfully line my garments, finish all of the seams, and add proper snaps, grommets, and other closures. No safety pins or hot glue in sight! One of my favorite parts of this costume are all of the light pink rhinestones on the cape, corset embroidery, blouse, and headband.
