For Halloween in 2020 a group of friends and I all chose to create Lore Olympus costumes and I knew I had to make Aphrodite! I was immediately drawn to her personality and color scheme and was so excited to jump right in to make her dress. I began with a beautifully draped red satin for the base and a matching red silk chiffon for the drape and skirt overlays. The skirt has a dramatic front slit and ruffled chiffon tiers, sewn to a dropped neckline bodice with front and back cowl and shoulder flounce details. On top lays a boned waist cincher with black vine trim and black rhinestones. To finish off the look I paired it with a gold headband and gold earrings. I also created matching purple arm stockings out of tights - that way I didn’t have to paint my arms and wouldn’t have to worry about any color transfer on my dress. This was a fairly simple costume to make but I had such a fun time dressing as one of my favorite characters from this amazing web comic!
