COSTUME SUMMARY
I was inspired to create this costume based on the work of Hannah Alexander Artwork, and it took me about a month of work. I started with a suede wrap off the shoulder "kimono" and layered it royal blue silk, light blue satin piping, and textured grey fur along the edges. I painted some trim I had from gold to blue, and stitched it on the edges. Then I added hotfix teardrop pearl cabochons to make up the design on the top and bottom. The final step for the kimono was adding gradient-dyed blue chiffon for the gathered sleeves. Creating the waist corset was my favorite part! It is made of brown silk, lined in brown cotton, and it has spiral steel boning in all the seams. The detailing in the front have matching blue silk and silver pleather chevrons stitched in place. It was finished off with some beaded details and paired with a blue satin sash with more beading on the ends. The leggings are gradient dyed stretch knit with blue piping sewn into the side seam, and have a heel strap at the bottom to keep them from rising out of my boots. Then for the halter top I used a navy knit fabric and added a band of blue satin to the chest, with an embroidered chevron design and braided sutache along the borders. The last touches were my fur and pom-pom boots, and flower accessories for my hair!
