COSTUME SUMMARY
Belldandy was one of my first elaborate costumes that I created my own original design for. I was inspired by the character's colors, form, and movement, and tried to incorporate that into my own version of her. I modified the original overcoat the Belldandy has and instead made it into a corseted bodice and open front skirt with a train. The costume is made of a crepe royal blue satin, lace, organza, chiffon, and brocade. I addd triangle shaped applique's out of the brocade and satin-stitched around all of the edges. The skirt and bodice are both finished with trims and rhinestone detailing. The underskirt is stretch with a gathered front and three-tiered ruffled bottom out of white and gold lace. Some smaller details include a long banner in the back with bead and tassels on the bottom, custom made gloves, jewelry, and an organza and lace headscarf.
I also later made large feathered wings to wear with this costume- my first time making detachable wings! They are made of stiff yet flexible wire, mesh screening, white poly batting, and then covered with trimmed faux feathers.
I always love wearing this costume, and I think it is one that I have worn the most of any others! It is comfortable and easy to wear but always looks ornate and impressive. I also love how rich the blue is in contrast to the delicate golds and whites. It will always be one of my favorites!
