COSTUME SUMMARY

This costume came together as one of a full lineup of Disney Princess dancers, designed by Noflutter. I created this full costume based on Noflutter's original sketch design, and added in a few of my own touches. I began by making a corseted bodice with teal brocade and a color-shit contrast fabric for the front. It features lace-up front bust, sides, shoulders, and center back. It's finished off with hand-sewn lace detailing on the neckline, trim around the edges, and some jonquil and AB rhinestones. Next was the undershirt, made of this beautiful gold and ivory sequined chiffon, with a layer of lightweight ivory satin lining. The sleeves have sewn in bracers on the upper and lower arms, in matching brocade and a rich brown silk. There are also trimmings, rhinestones, and a ruffled cuff and collar. To make the skirt, I started with a teal satin circle skirt hemmed in 2" horsehair to give some body to the bottom. Overlaid on top is an embroidered and sequined teal organza with a trim hem. On the organza layer I applied glitter heat-transfer vinyl in Merida's iconic design. The bottom of the skirt also features drop beading and crystals with AB and teal gems and beads. I also created a belt out of matching brown silk and more glitter vinyl, along with an ornate medallion and plaid sash. To complete the costume I created a tulle petticoat out of give varying shades of green and blue, all gathered and layered into an extremely full bustle!

It took me about six weeks to create this from start to finish, and I photographed it at home with a backdrop from Amazon! It was my first time setting up a photography studio in my home, but I had a blast shooting remotely and getting some great photos of this costume.
